Ken Kenyatta appointed Kakamega Homeboyz coach
Kakamega Homeboyz have announced the appointment of
Ken Kenyatta as the new head coach, following the departure of Patrick Odhiambo
to KCB.
Kenyatta, who previously managed FC Talanta before
being dismissed last season, has been given a one-year contract with the club.
Homeboyz Chairman Cleophas Shimanyula has confirmed
the appointment of Kenyatta, saying his wealth of experience in the Kenya
Premier League was key in his appointment.
"I believe that we have brought in a good
coach with vast of experience and touch of Kenyan football, and with him we
will achieve our intended goals."
Kenyatta joined Talanta FC in 2020 from the defunct
Ushuru FC where he inspired Talanta to gain promotion to the top tier the following
year after five years in the National Super league.
The CAF A holder has promised
to enhance the team's performance in the FKF
Premier League title next season.
"The only thing I'll want to do for Kakamega
Homeboyz is to prepare the team thoroughly. I have admired this team for a long
time, and how we approach our matches will be crucial. My goal is to lead the
team in a positive direction and strive for the championship. Preparing the
team well is key to our success,” he said.
Homeboyz FC Team Manager Boniface Imbenzi is
also optimistic Kenyatta will succeed at the club.
"We are happy to receive him as our new tactician, we will offer support and team work needed so that we make this club great," said Imbenzi.
Kakamega Homeboyz finished eighth place in the FKF Premier League last season, under Odhiambo's management.
