KDF grind past KFS to earn KVF League playoff spot

The Kenya Volleyball Federation Men’s League fifth leg served up a high-stakes showdown at Nyayo National Stadium's outdoor arena with Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) edging Kenya Forest Service (KFS) 3-2.
In a nail-biting contest Saturday night, KDF edged out KFS had the last laugh in the thriller, claiming maximum points and sealing their playoff berth despite
facing stiff resistance.
The opening set saw KDF come out with guns blazing, quickly
establishing dominance. However, KFS regrouped, launching a fierce offensive
that disrupted KDF’s rhythm.
A series of well-executed attacks and solid blocking saw KFS
clinch the first set, making an early statement in the match.
The second set was a rollercoaster, with KDF struggling on
serves and defense, allowing KFS to maintain the upper hand. Despite trailing
by two points late in the set, KDF capitalized on key errors from KFS and
forced the game beyond 25 points.
A clutch performance from KDF saw them snatch the set 27-25,
leveling the match.
KFS came roaring back in the third set, taking control after a
shaky start.
Their aggressive net play and KDF’s continued struggles with
serving proved costly for the military side. KFS capitalized on defensive
lapses, sealing the set and regaining the lead.
With both teams eyeing victory, the fourth set turned into a
fierce battle. KDF found their footing, exploiting KFS's momentary lapses in
concentration. A five-point cushion late in the set proved decisive as KDF
powered through to force a decisive fifth set.
The final showdown saw KDF dig deep, showing resilience and
tactical discipline. With the playoff race heating up, KDF held their nerve,
outlasting KFS to clinch the victory and secure fourth place in the standings.
Despite the loss, KFS walked away with a crucial point, locking in a playoff spot at position eight.
However, their final placement hinges on the outcome of KAPU and
Prisons Nairobi’s matches, which could see them either remain eighth or move up
to seventh.
