KCB cruise past Nondies to maintain unbeaten run

Austin Sikutwa starred as KCB RFC extended their
winning streak in Kenya Cup to six matches, defeating Nondies 53-8 in a
dominant performance at the Ngong racecourse on Saturday.
The match began with Nondies suffering a setback
early, as Charles Odhiambo was sent to the sin bin just three minutes into the
game.
KCB made the most of this advantage, with Lionel
Ajeliti opening the scoring with a penalty four minutes later to give the
bankers a 3-0 lead.
Nondies responded with a penalty of their own from
Ian Mumbwani, leveling the score at 3-3 after 14 minutes.
Sikutwa put KCB ahead, scoring their first try in
the 14th minute, followed by a successful conversion for a 10-3 lead.
Despite Fidel Maina being sent to the bin, Sikutwa
continued his impressive performance, scoring another try in the 33rd minute
and converting it for a 17-3 advantage.
The first half ended with Nondies losing their
captain, Steve Odhiambo, to a yellow card.
The second half saw KCB assert their dominance as Mannaseh
Oduor crossed over for a try, and Sikutwa added the conversion to push the
score to 24-3.
Sikutwa completed his hat trick soon after, extending
the lead to 31-3 before Brian Wahinya, came off the bench, further increasing
the margin with a try, followed by a conversion for a 38-3 scoreline.
Laban Kipsang, also a substitute, added a try that
Sikutwa converted to make it 45-3.
Nondies’ Brian Amaitsa scored a consolation try,
narrowing the gap to 45-8. KCB, however, added another eight points to seal the
match, winning with a commanding 53-8 scoreline.
