KCB cruise past Nondies to maintain unbeaten run

Austin Sikutwa starred as KCB RFC extended their winning streak in Kenya Cup to six matches, defeating Nondies 53-8 in a dominant performance at the Ngong racecourse on Saturday.

The match began with Nondies suffering a setback early, as Charles Odhiambo was sent to the sin bin just three minutes into the game.

KCB made the most of this advantage, with Lionel Ajeliti opening the scoring with a penalty four minutes later to give the bankers a 3-0 lead.

Nondies responded with a penalty of their own from Ian Mumbwani, leveling the score at 3-3 after 14 minutes.

Sikutwa put KCB ahead, scoring their first try in the 14th minute, followed by a successful conversion for a 10-3 lead.

Despite Fidel Maina being sent to the bin, Sikutwa continued his impressive performance, scoring another try in the 33rd minute and converting it for a 17-3 advantage.

The first half ended with Nondies losing their captain, Steve Odhiambo, to a yellow card.

The second half saw KCB assert their dominance as Mannaseh Oduor crossed over for a try, and Sikutwa added the conversion to push the score to 24-3.

Sikutwa completed his hat trick soon after, extending the lead to 31-3 before Brian Wahinya, came off the bench, further increasing the margin with a try, followed by a conversion for a 38-3 scoreline.

Laban Kipsang, also a substitute, added a try that Sikutwa converted to make it 45-3.

Nondies’ Brian Amaitsa scored a consolation try, narrowing the gap to 45-8. KCB, however, added another eight points to seal the match, winning with a commanding 53-8 scoreline.
