KCB beat Nakuru in Kenya Cup clash
The Bankers wasted no time, with Nick Okulo opening the scoring in the 12th minute of the game. Rocky Aguko followed shortly after, claiming the second try, while Michael Wamalwa added a third. However, all of KCB’s first three conversions were unsuccessful, leaving the scoreline at 15-0.
Just before halftime, Aguko struck again, bagging his second try and extending KCB’s lead. Isaac Njoroge successfully converted, bringing the score to 22-0.
Nakuru's Felix Okoth found a late response, scoring their only try of the match, leaving the score at 22-05 as the teams headed into the break.
In the second half, KCB’s Jack Odero and Davis Chenge added to their tally, with Chenge’s try being converted by Austin Sikutwa, sealing a 34-05 victory for the Bankers.
KCB's Head Coach, Oliver Mang’eni, reflected on the match, saying, “We had several missed opportunities against Nakuru, which did not go our way. We are focused on addressing these issues and bouncing back stronger in the next match.”
Captain Jacob Ojee echoed his coach’s sentiments, “Nakuru is always a tough opponent, and every encounter is a challenge. We will return to the drawing board to address any shortcomings before our next match.”
Looking ahead to the next fixture against KU BlakBlad, Ojee said, “It is going to be a tough game. They eliminated us from the Floodies Tournament, and the team is eager to avenge that loss. We are determined to get strong and secure maximum points from the game.”
