KCB advance into Kipchumba Kalori International Tournament semis
Reigning national volleyball champions KCB have begun the
Kipchumba Kalori International Volleyball Tournament title defence on
a high, securing three wins in the three opening pool matches of the tournament.
The tournament is being played at the Eldoret National
Polytechnic to book a spot in the competition’s semifinals.
The team opened its campaign with a thrilling match against DCI Sleuths,
narrowly edging them out with a straight-set victory of 3-0 (25-22, 25-23,
25-22).
In their second game, KCB dominated the Ugandan side Kampala
Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) with an emphatic 3-0 win (25-13, 25-15, 25-09),
showcasing their hunger to bag the title for the third time in a row.
The day's action ended with another commanding performance against
Uganda’s KCCA.
KCB maintained its perfect run, clinching a 3-0 win (25-13, 25-16,
25-22) against the visiting team to book a slot in the quarters with a match to
spare.
“We had a fairly good day today, winning all three matches even
though some were by a very small margin.
“We are regrouping to fix the small mistakes we noticed, and we
will be aiming to fight even harder in the remaining matches,” said coach
Japheth Munala.
The team will face Post Bank in their final pool match tomorrow
before proceeding to the semifinals.
The head coach also praised the exceptional performance of Marlyne
Terry Tata, the team’s new superstar, who recently joined from Kesogon
Secondary School.
“Terry had a good game today, showing great promise for the future
of the team. We are happy to have her, and she has already proven to be a
valuable addition.
“Her composure and skill on the court were outstanding, and we look forward to seeing her grow into a key player in our squad,” Munala added.
