Starlets midfielder Salome Drailer has urged technical committee to bolster the attacking department ahead of the new season of the Kenyan Women Premier League to match the competitiveness as it’s opposed to the FKF WNSL.
Drailer has been a key pillar for the team’s successful season as they were on Sunday crowned the overall champions of the 2024/2025 National Women Super League (NWSL) after defeating Zone B winners Soccer Assassins 3-0 in the playoff final.
Kayole managed to score 36 goals this season conceding only six goals with 15 wins, five draws and one loss which wrapped up the regular season with 50 points while Assassins dominated Zone B with 45 points from 13 wins, six draws, and two defeats.
Sharleen Otieno emerged the team’s top scorer with eight goals, one adrift of second top scorer and skipper Sarah Chalovu as Melisa Akinyi and Esther Ngugi notched six goals each. Salome Drailer managed to score five goals.
“I can say we had a very wonderful season, earning promotion is a big achievement for us. An area I feel need to be beefed up is the striking department, because we could have finished the league with more goals than what we achieved. Premier league is more competitive than the FKF NWSL and that we need to bolster our squad and prepare well something I hope the technical management will work on”
Joining Kayole Starlets in promotion are Gideon Starlets who defeated Bandari Queens 5-4 in a dramatic penalty shootout.
Meanwhile, Mombasa Olympic, Bunyore Starlets, and Wadadia Women FC have been relegated to the second-tier National Women’s Super League after a challenging season in the top flight.
