Kayole Starlets are leaving nothing to chance as they prepare to make a comeback to the Women’s Premier League after earning promotion from the National Super League (NSL) last season.
The Nairobi-based side has been in intense training sessions and has moved to bolster its squad with key signings expected to inject fresh energy into the team.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, the side's head coach, Mary Adhiambo, confirmed the acquisition of three players: Prexy Shivikhwa from Milima Queens, Shannie Kanenge from Zetech Sparks, and Peris Oside from Bungoma Queens.
These signings bring in both experience and talent; they will help us compete at the highest level this season,” Adhiambo said.
Despite celebrating promotion last season, Kayole's journey was far from smooth. The club grappled with limited financial resources and a shortage of players, as many of their squad members were students who had to leave during exam periods. These setbacks, however, became learning points that the technical bench has worked to address ahead of their top-flight return.
“Last season taught us a lot. We’ve worked hard to correct our mistakes, and the team is now stronger,” the coach added.
With the new season around the corner, Kayole Starlets are bracing themselves for a tough opener. Their first assignment will be a home clash against the reigning champions, Kenya Police Bullets.
