Carlos Katywa is wary of the threat posed by Menengai Oilers ahead of the RAI
derby, slasted for this weekend.
Speaking to
Citizen Digital on Thursday, Katywa underlined their desire to keep their unbeaten
record in Kenya Cup this season, but conceded they have to avoid taking
anything for granted against Oilers.
The competition
is entering its homestretch, and Katywa knows just how strong Oilers have been
in the campaign so far.
“They are a very
dangerous side that no one can underestimate even if we are unbeaten this
season. We are preparing knowing it is going to be a very tough game for us
away from home so everyone has to give their best,” said Kaytwa.
Menengai had been
unbeaten until last weekend when they narrowly lost to league leaders KCB
27-25.
Katywa has
credited their (Oilers) recent form to great team work and a good technical bench led by
Gibson Weru.
“Team work has
been instrumental for them they play for each other die for each other and they
have a very good technical bench that has made them very consistent in recent
times.”
The veteran
tactician has at the same time raised concerns in the way they have been conceding
in their recent matches, saying it is an area they have to improve on ahead of
the Oilers clash.
“Of late we have
been conceding easily that is an area we have to work on and make sure we
improve drastically before it a costs us more,” Katywa observed.
KCB RFC lead the
Kenya Cup standings with 45 points, one ahead of second placed Kabras RFC while
the Oilers are third with 41 points.
