The much-anticipated 2025 edition, scheduled for 12th to 23rd August, will be hosted in Kakamega, with Kakamega School leading the charge as the pioneering venue for this landmark sporting event.
This groundbreaking move is the result of years of strategic planning and dedication, spearheaded by Moses Mbuthia, Chairperson of the Beach Volleyball Commission. Under his leadership, the sport has grown rapidly in Kenya, and its inclusion in FEASSSA now signals a new era for school sports in the region.
Permanent beach volleyball courts are being constructed at the Approved School in Kakamega, a major development that will not only support this year’s games but also leave a lasting legacy in the region’s sports infrastructure.
The beach volleyball project has received a timely boost from Rohto Mentholatum Kenya Ltd, a long-time supporter of sports and wellness in Kenya.
The company recently donated KSh 300,000 to support court preparations for the FEASSSA Games. The cheque was officially handed over by Managing Director Masaaki Ushiyaama, bringing the company’s total sponsorship to KSh 900,000.
This includes previous support for events in Mombasa and the upcoming end-of-year beach volleyball tournament.
Beach volleyball’s momentum in Kenya began after the national women’s team made history by qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. That breakthrough inspired the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) to initiate a nationwide campaign, starting in schools and extending to organized beach volleyball circuits in all 47 counties.
As Kenya prepares to welcome East Africa’s brightest young talents to the sand courts of Kakamega, the 2025 FEASSSA Games promise not only exciting competition but also a celebration of growth, opportunity, and sporting excellence on new ground.
