Kakamega High School Rugby Coach Wamanga tips Kabras RFC to retain Kenya Cup
Kakamega High School rugby head coach Amos Wamanga has tipped Kabras Sugar RFC to continue the dominance in the Kenya Cup when the new season begins this weekend.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Wamanga said the quality of players and the depth in
the squad makes them favourites to win the title for a fourth time in a row.
“They have a
very solid team that has quality players who have played together for long and
they have gained experience from the national team and different competition, I don’t see any team coming closer to them at
the moment,” said Wamanga.
He is however
not ruling out Menengai Oilers giving Kabras a run for their money, having won
the floodlight tournament, by beating Impala in the final, saying they too are
having a good project under Gibson Weru.
“Menengai too,
have a good team, and their project is heading in the right direction, under
Weru, but for Kabras, even if you look at their Kenyan team that played in the
Elgon Cup against Uganda, most of them are from Kabras,”added Wamanga.
Shujaa will be
making a return to the world seven series later this month, and the veteran
tactician says sticking with the team that played in the challenger series and
Olympics will be key for good results in the legs.
“The team is
growing well, they got a feeling of what to expect in the series during the
Olympics and I am sure they gained the experience needed to compete in the
series,” stated the head coach.
