Kakamega High
School rugby head coach Amos Wamanga says rugby fans should brace themselves for
a nerve wracking Kenya Cup final on April 12.
Kabras RFC will
host rivals Menengai Oilers after both teams won their respective semi-finals. Kabras beat Nondies Script 45 -6 while Oilers
defeated KCB 31-8 and Wamanga now says it will be one of the most exciting finals
witnessed in recent years.
“That will be a
showdown like never before; both teams have been in great shape this season and
I know they will not disappoint their respective fans come match day,” said
Wamanga
During the
regular season, Kabras came from behind to beat Menengai 20-14 at the Kakamega
Showground and Wamanga has warned the defending champions that it will not be a
walk in the park.
“Just like KCB,
Kabras should not dare undermine Menengai, they are very tactical and they
capitalize on any small chance they get that is how the beat KCB so Kabras as
the defending champions must be perfect in all departments on the match day,” added
Wamanga.
The
Kakamega-based team is unbeaten in all competitions this season something the
veteran tactician credits to a strong squad and a gifted technical bench led by
the experienced coach Carlos Katywa.
“They are unbeaten for two reasons - first they have quality players and enough depth in their squad - second they have a very gifted technical bench that understand rugby,” stated the head coach.
