Kabras clinch Kenya Cup title

Kabras RFC showed resilience to clinch 2024-2025 Kenya Cup title for the fourth time consecutive following a tight 27-26 win against Menengai Oilers at the Kakamega Showgrounds.

Kabras RFC who went all season unbeaten have now bagged five Kenya cup titles.

The Sugarmen scored two tries in the first half before adding another in the second period to win the tie, with Oilers scoring two tries in the second half.

Kabras head coach Carlos Katywa was impressed with the win but was keen to castigate his players for letting their opponents back in the game before winning with a very slim margin.

"My boys played well and we deserved the win, but am disappointed with how they let go a 27-9 margin to allow Oilers to close down on us late in the game. " He said.

Menengai Oilers captain Tony Oketch said they started the game low, and came in late that's why they lost the finals.

"In a final, you are beaten on your own mistake, we allowed Kabras to manage the opening half of the match and they took their chances well, we tried to fight back but it was too late."

Thousands of rugby fans defied the chilly weather to attend the match.
