KCB RFC Sevens head coach Andrew Amonde says tactical discipline was crucial during their triumph at the Kabeberi Sevens RFUEA Grounds last Sunday.

The reigning champions, who started the national sevens circuit with mixed results, put Menengai Oilers to the sword 29-7 to retain their title as Oilers settled for silver yet again after they also finished second at the Dala Sevens.

Amonde feels his charges have finally found their rhythm and are ready to right their wrongs in the coming series.

“The players followed my instructions to the letter. They have started to understand each other well and I believe the tactics we trained for were well executed on the pitch which is very impressive,” said the former Shujaa captain.

“The younger players are maturing and understanding the game well. It's a process that has taken time and needs patience and I am happy we have started seeing the results.”

Amonde added that the bankers are keen to sharpen their claws in all the fronts ahead of the remaining two legs.

“In the remaining legs our aim is to still keep the defence tight and keep improving our attack to kill off games early and I believe we have what it takes to retain the title.”

KCB are currently third in the circuit standings with 67 points, six behind second placed Kabras and eight adrift of leaders Kenya Harlequins.
