Defender Eve Chemutai Selim has attributed her recent move to Friends College Kaimosi Queens FC  from Vihiga Queens as one guided by desire to advance her education.

Selim together with striker Agnes Olesi were released by Vihiga Queens on Friday, September 2, 2022 and have both joined FCK Queens after landing a full education sponsorship with the Kaimosi based college in Vihiga County.

“This is to notify you that Selim Eve Chemutai has been with Vihiga Queens Football Club for the 2021/202 season. Having cleared with all club departments, we release her to join FCK Queens FC unconditionally,” Chemutai’s release letter, which Citizen Digital has accessed, read in part.

In a separate interview with Citizen Digital, Chemutai thanked Vihiga for giving her opportunity to showcase her talent for the short stint she has been with the side, saying it’s a new beginning for her career.

“I am so happy for the move because it will give me a good opportunity to study. I am joining the college to pursue a certificate course in General Agriculture, a course which has been my dream since I was young as I do love farming.

I will be playing for the college team as I continue sharpening my education skills and I am sure that I will gain more career wise and talent wise. I want to thank Vihiga for granting me opportunity to play for them and I wish them all the best ahead of the new season.”

Selim, 22, started her football career way back at Laliat Primary School in Ainamoi Kericho County before proceeding to St. Theresa Tar Tar Girls in West Pokot before joining Nakuru City Queens where she made her Women Premier League debut.

She would later join Vihiga, the four time KWPL champions in November 2021, and was part of the team which won the CECAFA club championship and represented East Arica region in the inaugural CAF women Champions League held in Cairo, Egypt in the same month.

The duo are the only players to have been released by Vihiga Queens as at now as they structure ahead of the new season scheduled for to kick off on September 24.
