Former Kenyan international James Situma believes defending champions High Way Secondary School and former champions Musingu High School stand a big chance of winning this year’s national football title.

Speaking ahead of the games that will run from July 27 –August 3 in Kakamega County, Situma says the two teams have displayed high level football in the previous stages of the competition and believes they are the teams to watch out for but at the same time warned them not to underestimate St. Joseph Kitale.

“I have watched them in different levels and I can tell you they are a joy to watch; they have very talented players and quality technical benches who understand the game very well but also no one should underestimate St Joseph’s Kitale, who beat St. Antony Kitale in the regional finals,”he said, “They too have a great team so there will be a lot of entertainment to look up to.”

Harambee Starlets head coach Beldine Odemba is in charge of HighWay Secondary School and Situma believes her experience with the national team and Kenya Premier League women champions Police Bullets will play a key role to the team’s success.

“Her experience has played a great role in making High Way succeed in football, she is exposed, well trained, and gives her best in every role that she takes up, so she is a force to reckon,” added Situma.

The former Sirakaru secondary school alumnus notes home support will prove to be crucial for Musingu.

“Football is loved in Western region very much, I played my high school football in that region and I can assure you the passion is on a  different level so Musingu must capitalise on that to win the title,” stated the former Tusker FC captain.
