Ingwe fans deserve silverware, admit Beja, Were
AFC Leopards
midfielder Hassan Beja and defender Gedion Werre have acknowledged the pressure
from the club's supporters to secure a trophy.
Speaking to Citizen
Digital following their 3-1 quarter-final victory over underdogs Compel FC in
the FKF Cup at Dandora Stadium, the pair emphasized that the recent investments
made by the club in the transfer market and their poor show campaign in the
league have heightened expectations and added to the pressure on the team.
"The pressure
from our supporters is intense right now because we were considered favorites
to win the domestic title, but we fell short.
“Now, they expect us
to win this one, the FKF Cup," remarked Werre.
Continuing, he stated,
"At the beginning of the season, the club made several signings, and the
fans had high hopes for us winning the league.
“Despite that not
happening, they are now pushing us to secure this FKF Cup, and we won't let
them down."
His team mate, former
Nzoia Sugar marksman Hassan Beja says he enjoys every fiber of it.
''We have taken in
positively (the pressure) and I guess it acts as extra motivation because
winning give us pride'', he stated.
He went on,'' The fans
have not celebrated a title in a while, so the pressure is justified''.
Ingwe will now face title favorites Police FC in an
entertaining FKF cup semi-final, the latter having edged out Sofapaka 4-0.
