NCPB overcame Rangers 42-24 in the Kenya Handball Federation Premier League yesterday, to go level on points with league leaders Nairobi Water, who have amassed 18.

Naomi Muyoka scored seven as she led NCPB in staging a spectacular show in the second half, after a slow start in the first half.

The victory on Sunday sealed a perfect weekend for NCPB who also overcame Kenyatta University 25-22 on Saturday to claim two valuable points on the league standings.

Head coach Bryan Matthews called for more from his charges in their upcoming fixtures.

"We still need to put in a lot of effort and make sure we don't lose any matches. The most important thing is winning all our remaining matches after already dropping two points this season," noted Matthews.

Rangers would bounce back to winning ways after thumping Mountain Queens 28-23 while Daystar whitewashed JKUAT 29-27 in varsity derby.

On Saturday, reigning champions Nairobi Water edged Ulinzi Sharks 28-27 in a closely contested encounter.

Nairobi Water head coach Jack Ochieng hailed Ulinzi Sharks' resilience after the narrow win.

"Ulinzi is a good side, they went with us head to head until the last minute. It is not the first time they are troubling us and that is the kind of competition that makes the league exciting," said Ochieng.

Nairobi Water tops the league standings with 18 points level with NCPB but on a superior goal difference while Ulinzi Sharks are third on 16 points.
