Harambee Starlets striker Martha Amunyolet is targeting the Golden Boot in the ongoing CECAFA Women's Cup in Tanzania.
Amunyolet has scored three goals for the team in the first two
matches against Burundi and Uganda.
Apart from helping the team lift the gong, Amunyolet says it
would be double joy if she also won the top scorer’s award.
“I want it. In both matches
against Burundi and Uganda, I targeted to score goals and I succeeded. The two
matches have been good for us but we cannot say that they have been easy. We
played with dedication I’m glad we scored convincingly.
“We have been giving everything
to get here despite the fact that the opposition is tough,” said Amunyolet.
Starlets will be aiming
for another win when they take on winless South Sudan on Thursday at the Azam
Complex, starting at 4:00pm.
Starlets enter the match
boosted by two back-to-back huge wins against Burundi, whom they thrashed 3-0
and demolished Uganda 4-0 to seal six points.
Hosts Tanzania are also on six
points, but enjoy a superior goal difference.
South Sudan on the other hand, lost
her two opening matches, 4-0 to Tanzania and 5-0 to Uganda.
