Hussein Mohammed takes FKF head-on over Murang’a Seal position
Hussein Mohammed has insisted he is the legitimate Vice-Chairman of FKF Premier League side Murang’a Seal.
Mohamed has dismissed a statement released to the media, and signed by FKF Chief Executive Officer Barry Otieno, stating that he is not the bonafide Vice-Chairman of the club, and could not therefore represent the club at the federation's Annual General Meeting (AGM) that was slated for March, 2024.
Barry said that after a thorough review of the registration documents and other pertinent details, Mohammed was found to be ineligible to represent the club, as he was not registered with FKF as a member of Murang’a Seal or FKF general.
Hussein told Citizen TV’s Sporty Monday, that the football federation has no power to decide who a club appoints at its officials.
“This brought to the fore the impunity that has been reigning at the federation over years,” said Mohammed, who is the current Extreme Sports CEO.
“The culture of intimidation, coercion that I think majority of the delegates have been facing quietly, and it’s about time we put a stop to it. FIFA Statutes Article 15 reconfirms the position on member associations, therefore nobody has the right to dictate to a club who their members can be,” he added.
Murang’a Seal Chairman Robert Macharia is also said to have replied to the statement by FKF’s Otieno, demanding that the federation recognizes Mohammed as the club’s Vice-Chairman.
Mohammed further called on the involvement of all local sports stakeholders in ensuring all pending court cases concerning FKF are resolved, to among other things pave the way for the federation’s elections slated for later this year.
“We need to find a mechanism where we can resolve all the court cases that are out there as quickly as possible. Bring all the stakeholders on the table, which the NOCK president tried to do a few weeks ago, where majority felt like it was time to have a Normalization Committee to replace FKF,” he said.
