FKF President Hussein Mohammed and nominated Senator Tabitha Mutinda lauded ‘resilient’ Kayole Starlets after earning promotion to play in the FKF Women’s Premier League.

The Nairobi-based team sealed their spot to feature in the women’s top flight football next season with one match to spare in the current campaign of the Women's National Super League Zone A.

After coming painfully close last season, finishing second in NSL Zone A, and suffering a heart breaking defeat at the hands of KISPED Queens in the promotion playoffs, the team has now secured direct promotion to the Premier League by winning the NSL Zone A league.

Their place in the Premier League was confirmed after they thumped Sunderland Samba 4-0 at their home ground, Calvary Grounds in Kayole.

They have 47 points at the top of the league after 21 rounds, with one match to go against Barcelona Falling Waters.

“It gives me great pleasure to be here with the Starlets to congratulate them for the excellent work they have done throughout the season. I say to the entire team hongera for joining the women`s premier league and the federation is going to do all it can to support women`s leagues across the country,” said Hussein.

Team captain Sarah Chalovu thanked the federation boss for the banquet and promised to win the league title in their first time of asking next season.

“We thank President Hussei and thank you for everything you have promised us. We will continue to work hard and win the premier league title next season.”

Nominated Senator Tabitha Mutinda who flanked the federation president thanked him for his continued support of the club and the women`s teams.

“We thank the president for walking with Kayole Starlets, and thank you too ( for the goodies) for the balls, jerseys and the financial assistance, we thank him for that.”

They have gone unbeaten at home all season and not a single goal was conceded on their turf at the Calvary Grounds.

Kayole joined Madira Soccer Assassins, who are making a comeback in the league after winning the NSL Zone B league.
