The court issued the injunction halting the county elections after a group calling itself Kenya Football Association (KFA) filed a suit claiming of being the legitimate body to conduct FKF polls.

“We’ve taken note of the orders that have been issued by the Kitui court. Consequently, all the county elections scheduled for 9th November have been halted,” said the FKF’s Electoral Board.

In their petition, the emerging group is alleging that FKF has failed to comply with the Sports Act and thus the federation cannot oversee the process that will culminate with the presidential polls on December 7.

The relatively unknown KFA also wanted an urgent directive for the Sports Registrar to revoke FKF’s certificate of registration.

The case will be heard and determined on Tuesday, November 12.

The Saturday’s county elections were to set the ball rolling for the much awaited presidential polls.

After the county stage, the Electoral Board was scheduled to publish the 94 national delegates on November 23, two weeks before the vote for the presidential candidates.
