Guikan at the double as Gor rout Zoo in KPL
Gor Mahia FC recovered from their season-opening setback at Bandari to rout Zoo Kericho FC 4-0 in their Kenyan Premier League (KPL) mid-week fixture at the Kasarani Stadium.
Striker Ephrem Guikan hit a brace inside the opening 16 minutes before Samuel Onyango and substitute Erisa Ssekisambu scored to wrap up Gor’s first victory of the season.
Both sides ended the match with 10 men apiece after Gor midfielder and Zoo’s Dennis Kawanga were red carded following a 73rd-minute fist fight between the duo.
Gor’s new head coach Hassan Oktay insisted he still needs more time to ‘understand’ his players as he shifted focus on Sunday’s CAF Champions League clash against Lobi Stars.
“We are ready to play on Sunday. It is an important match for both teams and for us we have the home advantage so we have to use it well,” Oktay said.
