Green Blades wary of tricky Vihiga Leeds ahead of Western Women's Regional League

Ambani believes his side is prepared for the challenge despite facing injury setbacks with the match set to be played at Esirabe Primary school in Vihiga from 1 PM.
"It's a big game, and we expect it to be entertaining. We have been working on tactical aspects to keep the team in shape. Vihiga has more experience, having played in Division One, but we are confident of securing an away win despite losing at home in the first round," said Ambani.
The Mumias West-based women's team trains at St. Paul's Ahominjo and comprises young talents aged 14 to 23.
Initially competing in the county league, the team has grown significantly, scouting players from school competitions and accepting talented girls recommended by their parents.
"The girls have passion and work hard, which is why we continue to invest in and support them. Our fans and parents also play a crucial role in the team's progress," Ambani added.
The club recently participated in the Cheza Dimba tournament in Nairobi, where the players experienced playing at high-profile venues such as Dandora Stadium.
Looking ahead, Ambani envisions the team competing at a higher level.
“In the next five years, we aim to play in either the National Super League or the Women's Premier League. We are only three years old but have already built a strong foundation.”
The team also prides itself on transforming young lives.
"One of our goalkeepers faced family challenges, but thanks to a sponsor, she completed her high school education. We hope to create more success stories like hers," Ambani concluded.
GreenBlades Spass FC has enjoyed notable achievements, including; Runners-up in the 2025 Tujiamini National Championships, Western Region Cheza Dimba champions (2024), Second runners-up in the Mumias West Sub-County Songoi Super Cup (2023 & 2024) and Second runners-up in the Barasa Foundation Tournament (2023).
