Gor to bolster defence, attack - Spiers
Gor Mahia head coach
Andreas Spiers is keen to bolster his defence and striking force ahead of next
term’s campaign.
Gor have struggled this
term and the 59-year-old German trainer says he’s identified areas that must
find permanent solution to enable K’Ogalo compete effectively.
“I will give first
priority to central defence and two super strikers. Ass you know we have
struggled to score goals and at the same time we have conceded some goals due to
our porous defence," he lamented.
Gor recently lost
former captain Harun Shakava, a central defender to Kenya Police while in the preceding
years key talents such as Joash Onyango, popularly known as ‘Berlin Wall’ have
also ditched the club but the quality they offered hasn’t been matched in the
market transfers.
“I want two, young, tall,
and speedy strikers who can win aerial balls, get us penalties and must be able
to make good use of both legs to score from any angle like Michael Olunga used
to do," he equipped of the league’s Most Valuable Player in the 2015 season.
Spiers however did not disclose
the identity of his targeted players simply saying ‘some have been identified’.
K’Ogalo have scored 30
goals from 30 outings and have conceded 25 goals in the process. They currently
sit at number four on the log with 48 points.
