Gor out to close gap on Posta with Tusker trip
Gor Mahia FC
will have their sights on reeling in the league leaders Posta Rangers when they
travel to Tusker FC for this weekend’s highlight FKF Premier League clash.
Team Manager
Victor Nyaoro says the club must approach the game that is scheduled for Sunday
in Kasarani with caution, acknowledging Tusker as a competitive opponent.
‘’Every team
goes to the pitch to collect maximum points. We know Tusker is a competitive
side and so we will approach the match cautiously,’’ said Nyaoro.
The reigning
champions Gor are currently placed second on the league standings, four points
adrift of leaders Posta Rangers who are at the helm with 16 points after six
outings.
The two
leading teams are also the only unbeaten teams so far with Posta Rangers
managing five wins and a draw while Gor have won three times and drawn as many
times.
Gor Mahia go
into this match in high spirit having beaten traditional rivals AFC Leopards while
Tusker enter the game from a dispiriting 1-0 loss against Shabana FC.
The two
teams last met in May 2023 when the match ended in a barren draw.
In an
earlier interview, coach Jonathan MC’Kinstry admitted that the league is
competitive and as Gor, they intend to take a match at a time knowing the might
of the other teams in the league.
‘’All the teams in the league have equal
chances, and all we need to do is to know every other opponent we are facing.
My boys are determined to do their level best in any given assignment.’’
The Brewers have
so far won twice, drawn twice and lost in two outings with a total of zero goal
difference having scored four and conceded as many goals.
Coach Robert
Matano will also be desperate to get Tusker firing again after the club’s
supporters turned on him in the aftermath of their defeat at home to Shabana as
they demanded a turnaround.
