Gor Mahia snatch win, Homeboyz down Mara Sugar

Kenyan Premier League entered its 16th match day in style with an entertaining block buster fixture between the defending champions Gor Mahia and Posta Rangers at the Dandora Stadium today.

 K’Ogalo who currently sit third in the league standings with 34 points walked home with a 2-1 victory against the Rangers who put up a fair fight as they searched for their third win to climb up the league table to avoid relegation.

The first half kicked off strong with Posta Rangers defending their territory and counter attacking the green army in the first 10 minutes - keeping Gor Mahia players on their toes.

Gor Mahia took control of the game at the 15th minute mark of the game with their winger Boniface Omondi taking a heavy shot towards the Ranger’s keeper who punched out of play awarding K’Ogalo a corner.

 Posta did not back down easily as Dicken Mwema missed a clear-cut chance to put the Rangers in front in the first half of the game.

Gor Mahia’s corner defence looked shaky as Rangers capitalized on their defensive errors with back-to-back corner kicks in K’ogalo’s territory

In the Second half, Rangers came in with the same game plan and kicked off with series of corner set pieces that led to a Gor Mahia counter attack that was led by Boniface Omondi but ended up being defended superbly by the poster rangers

Deadlock broken in the second half by the green army after the ball bounced back to Gideon Bendeka who found the net and gave Gor Mahia the lead at the 72nd minute of the second half

Rangers did not back down with a fantastic goal by Felix Oluoch which equalized the playing field to 1-1 after a shocking defensive error from the Gor Mahia defense line

Gor Mahia did not hesitate to take back the lead and seal the game with a classic shot on goal by Alphonce Omija in the added minutes of the game.

In the other matches played today, Kakamega Homeboyz secured a 2-0 win against Mara Sugar as Talanta FC play to a 1-1 draw against Mathare United.
