Gor Mahia sink Murang’a SEAL to move 12 points clear

High -flying Gor mahia boosted their title credentials with a comfortable 3-1 triumph over Murang'a SEAL at the Sportpesa Arena on Saturday afternoon.

K'Ogalo took an early lead in the 13th minute through Austine Odhiambo before John Kiplagat pulled one back for the hosts before the break.

Benson Omala proved to be a relentless force against the Seal defense, as he effectively collaborated with Bryson Wangai. Wangai's subsequent shot narrowly missed, hitting the side netting, as the hosts breathed a sigh of relief, surviving a close call.

The visitors were forced to an early change, with Enock Wanyama stretched off in the 40th minute and being replaced by Lawrence Juma.

SEAL came resurged in the second half, forcing Caleb Otieno to numerous saves. The league leaders finally managed a sigh of relief when Austine Odhiambo was brought down in the box, allowing run-away Golden boot winner Benson Omalla to double the lead.

 Omalla was back on the score-sheet in the dying minutes, slotting in a superb low finish into the bottom corner of the net to make it 3-1. Gor currently lead the table standing with 60 points, 12 adrift of Second-placed Police FC.

In other fixtures, Brian Michiras 55th minute goal was enough for relegation-threatened Shabana FC to see off  Sofapaka FC at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. Shabana are now out of the red-zone with 28 points, 3 adrift of the relegation Zone.

At the Police Sacco Stadium, a first half brace from Mark Makwatta and lone goal by Julius  Masaba sealed 3-0 and fourth win in four games for Kariobangi against a sorry Kenya Commercial Bank side.

The bankers are now winless in three games with fixtures against Nzoia Sugar and Gor Mahia lying in wait.
