Gor Mahia SG Ocholla calls for patience as restless Green Army demand results
Gor Mahia Secretary General Sam Ochola has urged club fans
to remain calm, and patient with their team after a slow start to the FKF-PL
season.
His calls came shortly after the defending champions
surrendered a 2-0 lead to settle for a 2-2 draw against visitors Murang’a SEAL
at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos at the weekend.
"I think Gor Mahia fans should give us time, be
patient.
The issue is that they are used to winning matches and so
when they see it us losing a game then it catalyzes their reaction.
We are used to winning and that is maybe the biggest
problem that puts us in this difficult situation with fans.
Sometimes when we draw or lose then they should know that it’s
part of the game and those are the options when you play; you either win, lose
or draw,’ said Ochola.
The shocking result angered Gor fans who attacked the head
coach Leonardo Neiva forcing security officers to run to his rescue.
Ochola is hopeful the team will turn around its fortunes
since a lot of points are up for grabs.
"We need to sit them down, and try to find out, what
the problem is, and why things are not working.
We are not that bad, but we will talk to the players also
because we have given them everything they require,” Ochola explained.
He continued, "There is a time when we also started
very poorly, I think during the Jonathan MC Kinstry era, where we had about 17
players only available, but we still won the league.”
Gor Mahia - with three matches in hand- are sitting in
position 10 with eight points, nine behind leaders KCB.
They have won and drawn two games each and lost just once
which was on Saturday against Murang'a Seal.
They travel to Mombasa to play a bogey side Bandari SC at
Mbaraki Sports Club before being hosted by AFC Leopards in the Mashemeji Derby
on November 24.
