Gor Mahia fired-up, ready to raid KCB’s vault
Gor Mahia assistant coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno says the team is under no pressure ahead of their league match against unbeaten league leaders KCB set for Wednesday.
The
former KCB coach says they are determined to break his former team’s unbeaten
run even as they aim to get their third win of the season.
‘’We are under no pressure as we prepare to
face KCB. Both teams will field 11 players at the start and I believe our
intense preparation will give the bankers a run for their money,’’ said Zico.
Zico has
at the same time dismissed assumptions that KCB players know him and his
tactics having served as their head coach before.
‘’There
is nothing obvious that will determine the bearing of the match. They may have
known me during my time at KCB but things have since changed at the technical
bench and the playing unit,” he said.
Gor Mahia will play their third league match
Wednesday against the bankers at the Dandora Stadium, having won the first two
matches with a cumulative 7-0 goal margin.
KCB have, on the other hand, played five
matches, winning four matches and drawing one to hand them the lead atop the
log on 13 points.
‘Zico’
has at the same time scoffed at reports that Kevin Juma is on his way out of
the club after a disagreement with the technical bench noting that the player
is available for selection ahead of the game.
Juma had requested to leave Gor Mahia for lack
of playing time and even skipped training sessions, which did not sit well with
the technical bench.
‘’As far as the technical bench is concerned,
Juma is still our player and he will be available for selection [tomorrow]
against KCB. Any previous issues with the player are sorted and we are happy
with his consistency at the moment,’’ he added.
