It’s a good start for Gor Mahia in this New Year as they opened a seven-point gap at the top after beating Posta Rangers 1-0 in a top of the table clash at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos today.

Kennedy Onyango’s goal was all the defending champions needed to silence the Mail Men who now drop to third place on the league standings after managing just one win in their last five league fixtures.

Posta side failed to pull a brake on the cruising K’Ogalo as a slip today at the hands of the league leaders means they now have to chase with hopes reducing the gap.

K’Ogalo are now perched at the summit of the Football Kenya Federation table with 37 points from 17 and yet to taste a defeat  this season – winning 10 ties and drawing seven.

In the other fixture played today, the in-form Nairobi City Stars jumped to second place on the log with 30 points after outclassing Talanta FC 3-0.

City Stars are riding high and perhaps pushing for a top place finish – taking one game at a time while making no mistake of dropping points – their Star is surely shining.

Elsewhere, Police FC made easy work of Kakamega Homeboyz, convincingly beating the Western based side 3-0 courtesy of Musa Mohamed, Kenneth Muguna and Tito Okello.

Police are now eighth on the standings with 24 points – tied with Bandari FC who beat Nzoia Sugar  1-0 at Mbaraki Stadium in Mombasa.

In Homa Bay, Shabana went down 1-0 to Mihoroni Youth to stay in relegation zone at 16th place on 14 points – just one point ahead of bottom side Nzoia Sugar FC.
