Gor
Mahia head coach Sinisa Mihic has heaped praise on his attacking midfielder
Austin Odhiambo after securing a brace in Wednesday’s FKF-PL match win against
Karibangi Sharks.
Mihic
says it is rare to get a player of his calibre while admitting the team missed him
in their previous assignments
‘’I want to say Austin is a special player. He
scored a brace for us and he was consistent throughout the match. I am so much
impressed with his determination,’’ said Mihic.
Odhiambo
was on target in the 51st minute of the game slotting a classic free kick which
caught Kariobangi Sharks shot-stopper unawares, resulting in Gor’s second goal.
Four
minutes later, it was again Odhiambo who was fouled in the 12-yard box, scoring
again from the spot to give KÓgallo its third goal against the Sharks.
‘”We
surely missed him in our previous matches and you could see the synergy he
brought to the team,” he said.
The
Croat, in the meantime, says he has inherited a good team with good players, acknowledging
the rest of the team players.
“All our
players are good, save for a few tactical issues which we shall address. We
were caught in offside positions on several occasions and that was not so good
for us,’’ added Mihic.
Croat
also hailed the opposition saying Kariobangi Sharks were equally good in their
execution, terming them one that plays ''the best football''.
Gor
still sit third on the log with three points shy of leaders Police FC but with
a match in hand.
Their
next assignment is against KCB on March 9 before the Mashemeji Derby on April
6.
