Gor Mahia Head Coach Siniša Mihic has
voiced his delight following the return of Benson Omalla, whose extra time
goal against Bandari FC sealed their quarter final slot in the ongoing FKF Cup.
Alpha Onyango broke the deadlock at
the stroke of 90th minute, before Omalla added the second.
Mihic managed to keep the game tight
despite Bandari’s determination, before unleashing Omalla late who added the impetus
they needed to crack the hosts.
Mihic was full of praise for the
striker and confident about the road ahead.
“We know who Benson. I heard about
him, about his 20 goals in a season, so I think now we have a really, really
good team. We have good players on the
bench, so I think we are on a good trajectory to repeat our history as the
league champions and win the Cup title,” observed Mihic.
Omalla left Gor Mahia to join
Lebanese side Safa SC a season ago, but returned home following tense
political unrest that has been ongoing in the country, rendering his stay at
the club untenable.
He however had to wait until last
week to be cleared by FIFA to rejoin Gor officially.
With the FKF Premier League title
firmly within reach and their momentum in the Cup promising, Gor Mahia are now
brimming with belief.
They are set to face Kariobangi
Sharks in the quarter-finals as they continue chasing silverware on two fronts.
