The federation said on Thursday that the seasoned coach’s illustrious coaching career spanning over two decades made him the best person to advance the country’s football development agenda.
“Mr Kimanzi, a highly experienced coach with an extensive background in Kenyan football, steps into this role as the federation seeks to strengthen its structures, nurture local talent, and foster sustainable growth within the sport.”
“We are confident that Mr Kimanzi’s leadership and expertise will play a pivotal role in advancing our development agenda and shaping the future of Kenyan football,” said FKF CEO Harold Ndege.
Before landing the new role, the former Mathare United and Tusker FC coach served as an interim coach for the national side before former South African international Benni McCarthy took over early this month.
McCarthy, 47, who most recently worked as part of Erik ten Hag’s coaching team at Manchester United, signed a contract through the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which Kenya will co-host with neighbours Uganda and Tanzania.
Kimanzi, who had been in charge since Engin Firat stepped down at the end of last year, was in charge during the Mapinduzi Cup held in January in Zanzibar.
