Former Kenya Simbas captain Brian Nyikuli parts ways with South Coast Pirates

Former Kenya Simbas captain Brian William Nyikuli has parted ways with South Coast Pirates after two years of service, marking the end of a successful tenure that saw the club earn promotion to the Kenya Cup.

The Diani-based club confirmed his departure in a statement:

"South Coast Pirates bid farewell to coach Brian William Nyikuli after two years of service. The former Kenya Simbas captain joined us on October 10, 2023, as our forwards coach, bringing invaluable experience and leadership. Under his guidance, the club dominated the scrums, powered through the 2023/24 KRU Championship, and secured a historic promotion to the Kenya Cup.

His impact on the squad will be felt for years to come. We extend our deepest gratitude to Nyikuli for his dedication and wish him all the best in his next chapter!"

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Nyikuli expressed gratitude for his time at the club, reflecting on the growth and achievements made during his tenure.

"It has been an incredible journey with South Coast Pirates. When I joined, the goal was clear—to build a formidable pack and push for promotion. I am proud of what we achieved as a unit. The players showed immense character and resilience throughout the campaign, and earning Kenya Cup promotion was a testament to their hard work," Nyikuli said.

The former back-rower, known for his leadership both on and off the field, also praised the club’s fans for their unwavering support.

"The support from the players and club fans has been amazing. South Coast Pirates is a special team with a bright future. I have no doubt they will make an impact," he added.

Nyikuli, a former Kenya Simbas captain and back-row forward, previously played for Homeboyz RFC, Kenya Harlequins, Impala, and Strathmore Leos before joining KCB in 2017. He retired from his playing career in December 2021 after an illustrious run. Despite his departure from the South Coast Pirates, he remains open to new coaching opportunities.

His exit leaves a gap in the Pirates’ technical bench as the club prepares for its return to the Kenya Cup.
