Floor ball teams step up training for African Championships
Head coach Kelvin Maina says they have scaled down the Kenyan
teams in camp to 34 players ahead of the African Floor Ball Championships in
September.
Maina said they will cut that number to a final list of 24
players by the end of August when the final team heading to Ivory Coast for the
continental tournament will be named.
“We currently have 34 players in camp, 17 men and 17 women, a
number that we are looking forward to scaling down to a final number of 24
players that will go to Ivory Coast for the one-week tournament and we hope we
will get the best team out of them,” said Maina.
Maina is confident they will defend the title they won in
2019 saying that he has a lot of confidence in the squad in camp and believe
that they are hungry enough for victory and will deliver it.
“From the training we are having at KEWI, I am very confident
that the team will defend the title and despite the hosts having had several
outings to Europe to prepare ahead of this year’s tournament, I still believe
that we have the potential to beat them at home,” added Maina.
Another competitor Kenya will be looking at will be the
Burkina Faso team who are the 2018 African Floorball Championships.
