Ulinzi Stars head coach Danstun Nyaudo says the team is ready for their FKF Premier League (FKF-PL) clash with Sofapaka FC on Friday, after the return on veteran players.
The soldiers lost 2-1 to Bandari over the weekend in Mombasa, and coach Nyaudo says the return of four key players who missed the match will boost the team’s morale against Sofapaka in the only FKF-PL game set for Friday.
“The challenges facing this team are only temporary and are part of the usual growing pains every squad faces. I am confident that the missing players will be back this week to get ready for the crucial Friday match. Many of my players are young and are uncertain about their futures, which is leading to some confusion.'"
Ulinzi Stars missed the services of Amatton Samunya, Meshack Karani, Javan Omondi and Fredrick Oduor.
Nyaudo admitted that the lack of these key players exposed the lack of maturity and experience in the squad, which contributed heavily to their loss to Bandari FC.
“We created numerous opportunities against Bandari, but
inexperience let us down. We lacked composure in the final third. Key players
like Samunya, Karani, Javan, and Fredy were absent, but I’m confident that as
we prepare for Sofapaka, I’ll have a full squad to choose from, and hopefully,
we can secure a win,” said coach Nyaudo.
Ulinzi Stars are winless in their last four league matches, and are currently in 13th place with 28 points from 25 matches.
With a busy schedule ahead, Nyaudo is hopeful that his side will regroup and bounce back and finish the season stronger.
