FKF elections: ‘Kempes’ Owino calls for ‘genuine and clean list of delegates’
FKF
Presidential aspirant Sammy ‘Kempes’ Owino is hoping for a genuine and clean
list of delegates who will cast votes in the December 7 elections presidential elections.
Owino’s
sentiments come after numerous complaints from the candidates who have shown
interest in Kenya's football top seat.
“They
have published the list of clubs that are lined up to vote, who will vote in
those clubs and other voters but we will be eager to know the final publication
of the delegates who will decide on December 7 elections. After we have this
then we will be able to determine whether there is light or not,”Owino said.
The
former Kenya international has also voiced his reservations on the integrity of
the process.
“It’s
very hard to predict whether the elections will be 100 percent free and fair.
But if it is possible even if it will not make 100 percent, let it be conducted
in a way that at least the majority will be able to accept,” added Owino.
In
his blueprint, Owino says his vision is to professionalise football and ensure footballers
are well remunerated.
“Obviously
we want to be professional and our players to go full time professional in
football. That is our goal. If you aren’t getting good pay as a player and you
can’t invest for life after football then there is a problem,” Owino asserted.
Owino
is in the long list of candidates for the top seat amongst them, the immediate
former FKF chief executive officer Barry Otieno, former FKF NEC member for
Nyanza Tom Alila, Murang’a Seal vice chairman Hussein Mohammed and Kakamega
Homeboyz chairman Cleophas ‘Toto’ Shimanyula.
