FKF branch elections set for November 14 after court nod
The Football
Kenya Federation branch elections will now be held on November 14 after the
Kitui High Court on Tuesday lifted the orders it had placed barring the polls.
The elections
were initially set for November 9 but the court halted the exercise after Kenya Football Association went to court claiming legitimacy to hold the polls,
thereby getting an order blocking the exercise pending the hearing of the case.
However, the
Tuesday ruling now paves the way for the electoral process that has been delayed
due to long running litigation to proceed.
And in the wake
of the ruling, the FKF Electoral Board moved with speed setting the new date.
In a statement
signed by board chairman Hesbon Owilla and board secretary Marcelinne Sande, it said, “ Following
the hearing today, we are pleased to
inform you that the stay orders have been lifted. The Football Kenya Federation
elections will now take place on 14th November 2024.”
“You are
required to be at your assigned stations by 13th November 2024 to
ensure everything is set up and ready for the Election Day.”
The branch elections will set the stage for the national elections on December 7, culminating in the picking of the new Football Kenya Federation president.
