Faith Mboya makes flying start to Kibera Soccer Women career
In an electrifying start to the new season, Kibera Soccer Women's Faith Mboya announced her arrival in style, scoring all the four goals in their 4-1 victory over Bungoma Queens on Sunday.
Mboya, a new signing from National Super League side
Sunderland Samba, showcased her exceptional talent, marking her debut with a
memorable performance.
Speaking to Citizen
Digital after the match, Mboya credited her success to relentless hard work
and focus. "It’s all about dedication and teamwork," she said,
expressing her excitement at contributing significantly to her team’s first win
of the season.
At the same time, Kibera head coach David Vijago lauded his
players for their outstanding performance and emphasized the importance of
maintaining the momentum throughout the season. "This was a brilliant
start. The girls have shown commitment, and we are focused on securing more
points this season compared to last year," Vijago remarked.
Despite Bungoma Queens' defeat, their star striker Catherine
Khaemba found the back of the net to secure a consolation goal. The prolific
forward remains optimistic, targeting over 12 goals in the second leg as she eyes
the coveted Golden Boot award.
"I'm targeting to score around 22 goals in total this
season. This second leg my aim is to score at least 12 goals," Khaemba
noted.
In other FKF Women’s Premier League matches, Ulinzi Starlets
and Vihiga Queens shared the spoils in an entertaining 2-2 draw. Bunyore
Starlets narrowly edged Trinity 1-0, while Zetech Sparks and Kisumu Starlets
settled for a 2-2 stalemate.
Meanwhile, Kenya Police secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Kisped Queens to maintain their pole position in the league standings.
