Berlin Marathon silver medallist Cyprian Kotut says he used his experience in the Boston Marathon to compete and make it to the podium in Sunday’s race where he finished second.
The 2016 Paris
Marathon champion clocked 2:03:22 as Ethiopia’s Milkesha Mengesha took top
honours in 2:03:17 and Kotut believes there is more to come from him in future.
“The course is
very favourable and the competition was very stiff. I gave my best and I am happy
to be on the podium, this is very encouraging to me,” said Kotut.
The Kenyan
runner said he was satisfied with his performance and is hoping to improve
in the coming races.
“I am hoping to
keep on improving in the coming races, I have been training hard for a long time
and the results shows I am heading in the right direction,” added Kotut.
The Sunday race was Berlin marathon's 50th
anniversary, and the runner said he was pleased to celebrate his personal best
at the competition.
“I am humbled
with the organizers for the opportunity they game me to compete in the race, I
wanted to make them proud even if I didn’t win, being on the podium is
something big for me,” stated the Berlin marathon runners up.
