eLigue 1 Tour returns to Kenya: Gamers to compete for Paris grand prize

The highly anticipated eLigue 1 Tour is set to return to Kenya for its fourth edition, bringing together elite esports talent for an international gaming showdown.

The tournament, organized by eLigue 1 McDonald's in collaboration with EA SPORTS, offers Kenyan gamers a chance to win a fully paid trip to Paris, France.

This year’s competition is significantly boosted through a strategic partnership between the Esports Kenya Federation (ESKF) and the Nairobi City County Government, specifically through the Digital Economy and Startup Sector. This collaboration underscores the growing recognition of esports as a major digital industry with immense potential for Kenya’s youth.

The Kenyan qualifiers kick off on March 8, 2025, at KCB Grounds, leading up to the Grand Finale on March 28, 2025, at Charter Hall, thanks to sponsorship from Nairobi City County.

The competition is open to all gamers and football fans in Kenya aged 16 and above. Registration is free, but participants under 18 will require parental consent.

Prize Pool for Kenyan Qualifiers

  • 1st place: Ksh. 25,000

  • 1st runner-up: Ksh. 15,000

  • 2nd runner-up: Ksh. 10,000

  • Speaking at the partnership launch at City Hall, Nairobi, Esports Kenya Federation President Ronny Lusigi expressed gratitude for the support from Nairobi County:

“We thank the Nairobi County government for listening to the youth and supporting esports. The sponsorship will go a long way in growing the stature of esports.”

Nairobi Deputy Governor Njoroge Muchiri emphasized the importance of esports in engaging the youth:

“Nairobi is home to a vibrant youth community that is highly active in digital spaces. As a county government, we recognize esports as a valuable tool to reach, engage, and empower them. We are proud to sponsor this year’s edition of the eLigue 1 Tour, and we look forward to an exciting competition culminating in a Grand Finale at our Charter Hall.”

The eLigue 1 Tour serves as a platform to promote French football clubs and the Ligue 1 championship to a younger audience in key international markets. The event highlights Kenya’s growing presence in global esports, offering local gamers a pathway to international recognition.

The tournament is sanctioned by the Esports Kenya Federation, with IndexG Esports serving as the official tournament organizer for Kenya.
