DCI ladies pull straight sets over Kenya Army

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) volleyball team displayed their dominance in the Kenya Volleyball League, securing a straight-sets victory over Kenya Army as the fourth leg of the KVF Women’s National League entered its third day at Nyayo Gymnasium.

‎DCI won convincingly with set scores of 25-11, 28-26, and 25-11 with just a day after suffering from their previous 3-1 defeat against defending champions KCB. In that match, DCI fell with set scores of 15-25, 25-22, 13-25, and 19-25.

‎Following the loss to KCB, DCI head coach Jeremiah Mukopi had vowed to win all the remaining matches.

‎"We lost, yes, but it was not our day. We had planned well, but our reception was not good today. We have another game tomorrow, and we will fight to recover. The title is still within reach as long as we work together as a team," said Mukopi.

‎In some other matches Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) put on a dominant display, defeating Young Spykers 3-0 with set scores of 25-6, 25-3, and 25-13. Under the leadership of head coach Jackline Barasa, KDF showcased superior coordination, precise attacks, and solid defensive play.

‎Young Spykers' struggles continued in this fourth leg, as they had earlier suffered a heavy straight-sets loss to KCB (8-25, 7-25, 4-25) on Friday. The self-sponsored team from Nyandarua County, whose only win came via a walkover against Lipalikes, will face Kenya Pipeline on Sunday.

‎‎Meanwhile, KCB Bank was awarded a walkover victory after Vihiga failed to show up. KCB now shifts focus to their next match against Kenya Army on Sunday.

‎Speaking after their match against DCI on Thursday, KCB head coach Japheth Munalo highlighted their ambitions for the season.

‎"DCI has always been a strong team, and it’s always a four-set thriller when we meet. We are happy to be ahead of them now. We aim for the club championship, and we are also preparing for the Kenya Cup next week," said Munalo.
