Court bars Maina Muturi from acting as Kenya Motor Sports Federation Chair
A Nairobi court has issued temporary orders
preventing Maina Muturi from acting as the chairman of the Kenya Motor Sports
Federation (KMSF) pending the hearing and determination of a case filed by KMSF
director James Kahumbura.
Senior Principal Magistrate A. Nyoike granted the
orders following an application by Kahumbura and other KMSF directors.
They accused Muturi of continuing to present himself
as the chairman, despite being removed from the position.
Kahumbura, who is one of the directors, claimed that
Muturi, who was elected chairman in 2023, served for one year before concerns
over his eligibility arose, leading to his removal from the role.
The federation’s directors ousted Muturi and replaced
him with former chairman Kahumbura, with the decision setting the stage for a leadership
battle less than six months to the 2025 World Rally Championship Safari Rally.
