FKF Division One League side Compel FC head coach George
Mutimba has lauded the maturity of his players following their hard-fought 1-0
victory over Green Snipers in the FKF Cup Round of 64 at the weekend.
The Webuye-based club's narrow win secured their place in
the next stage of the prestigious tournament, as they now await their Round of
32 opponent.
Speaking to Citizen
Digital, Mutimba emphasized that the composure and discipline displayed by
his squad played a crucial role in the triumph. "The maturity of these
players was the key factor in our victory. The opponents were good and the
weather was a bit of a challenge for us but we remained steadfast and executed
our game plan effectively," he said.
With a deep understanding of the stakes involved, Mutimba
has vowed to approach every match in the tournament with the seriousness of a
final. He believes that underestimating any opponent at this stage would be a
costly mistake.
"We respect every team that has made it to the Round of
32. Each game will be approached with great focus and determination. We must
continue to play with discipline and hunger if we want to advance
further," Mutimba stated.
Meanwhile, Compel FC have already proven their capability in
this competition, having reached the quarter-finals in the previous edition where
they were knocked out by AFC Leopards. Their ambition to go even further this
time around remains clear, and their next challenge will be determined in the
upcoming draw.
