Coach Okere attributes Ogam’s goal repertoire to ‘keenness to instructions"
Tusker head coach Charles Okere has attributed
striker Ryan Ogam’s impressive goal return to keenness to instructions.
Ogam scored a brace on Sunday to secure three
points for his side as they won 2-1 against defending champions Gor Mahia in a match played at
Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
‘’It is all about being keen to my
instructions. Ogam is disciplined in training and in play. He is so impressive
and I believe he will go places,’’ said Okere.
The lethal striker has so far netted 15 goals
after 17 rounds, having played in only 14 matches for the Brewers, who are
perched atop the log on 33 points from 17 matches.
The striker joined Tusker FC at the beginning
of the season from the now-defunct Rainbow FC, and he has been consistent in
his goal-poaching duty.
Ogam was also featured for the national
team, Harambee Stars, for the first time during the recent Mapinduzi Cup in
Zanzibar.
Ogam is no doubt in the conversation for
the golden boot and the MVP this season. His consistency and discipline speak
for him,’’ added Cheche.
His closest challenger in the golden
boot race is currently KCB’s Francis Kahiro, who has so far netted 8 goals, the
same as Brian Michira.
Moses Shummah of Kakamega Homeboyz and Beja
Nyamwayi follow in fourth and fifth place, respectively, with 7 and six goals
in that order.
Recently, Tusker FC CEO Sam Nzau was
full of praise for the striker who has made an impression in the top-tier
league.
‘’I want to thank Ogam for his well-deserved
recognition. His discipline has been exemplary on and off the pitch,’’ said
Nzau after Tusker recognized Ogam as the October player of the month.
In the 2023/2024 season, Gor
Mahia’s Benson Omalla won the golden boot honours. However, according to the trend, Ogam
is currently almost untouchable owing to his free-scoring agenda.
As the league gets into the second leg,
it will be interesting to see any strikers who will challenge Ogam in his quest
for the top scorer honor.
