Kenya Police
Bullets head coach Beldine Odemba is delighted after her girls finished top of
the FKF-WPL to wrap up their second league title in a row.
Bullets walloped
Trinity Starlets 4-0 to round off the league on 46 points, only two ahead of second-placed Ulinzi Starlets.
According to
Odemba, the WPL is becoming tougher and competitive which is healthy for its
growth.
“It has been a
hectic season, not as smooth as last season. But we thank God that we are here
because the girls have really pushed for it.
They have really
tried and I want to say that the Kenya Women Premier League is gaining
something because the competition is getting tougher every day.
We have won the
title - but with only a difference of two points- from our close competitors
Ulinzi Starlets. I am very happy,”a jovial Odemba said.
Trinity Starlets
head coach Moses Juma was however muted after finishing in the bottom-half of
the 12-teams log despite winning their first three opening matches of the
campaign.
“I lack the words
to say - in response to the result and the general summary of their season- and
what I can say is that we joined the team in February and as some of you might
be knowing, so many girls left the camp and we were forced to start the team
almost afresh.
It has not been
easy but there has been progression for sure in terms of the team, the
personnel and the style of play,” Juma said.
Trinity
Starlets, who are under the management of Trinity Methodist Church, Nyandarua
registered electric results winning their first three matches without conceding
a goal to top the league for a better part of the first leg before losing
ground to sink to the bottom half of the 12- teams log in the second leg.
