The soldiers defeated newbies Stanbic Shields 68-63 to tip off the regular season’s second leg on a flying start.
Ulinzi are currently second in the league standings with 20 points, two adrift of holders Nairobi City Thunder after playing 12 games, winning eight and losing four with 20 points.
“We started off well, our aggregation was better but we lost concentration in the third quarter where we blew our 14-point lead. I urge my boys to stay focused during the whole game to be able to close up games better than our opponents,” said Mufutu.
Mufutu admitted that there are loose areas his side should improve despite current top form.
“We have improved on some areas but we are still struggling with other areas; nevertheless, we will keep working especially on our mental strength when it comes to playing tight matches and see how it goes in the upcoming games,” he added.
Defending champions Thunder are unbeaten as they top the league with 22 points after winning all their 11 matches in the first leg.
They will be kicking off their second leg against giants Equity Dumas on Wednesday at Nyayo Gymnasium, Nairobi.
