Experienced tactician Charles Odero has been appointed as the new head coach of Michael Olunga Football Academy [MOFA] after resigning from his role at Nzoia Sugar FC.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Odero expressed his gratitude to Nzoia's players, fans, and management for their support throughout his tenure, acknowledging the opportunity they gave him to lead the team.

Odero’s resignation from Nzoia Sugar piles more problems to the embattled Bungoma-based outfit weeks after exodus of club's key players owing to financial constraints at Sudi.

Though the reasons behind his departure remain undisclosed, his farewell message to the club reflected his appreciation for the time spent at Nzoia. He credited the players for their hard work, the fans for their unwavering support, and the management for trusting him with the team’s progress.

"I would like to extend my gratitude to Nzoia Sugar FC supporters and the management for giving me a platform. It's there that MOFA saw me and got interested in my services," he said.

His exit comes at a critical time for Nzoia Sugar, who are battling to regain a return to the top tier. The club will now have to find a suitable replacement to steer the team forward.

Expressing his excitement about the new challenge at MOFA, Odero stated that he has no choice but to deliver results since the club is well-equipped in all departments.

"I am happy to join MOFA. The club has provided everything a coach needs to succeed, so my focus is on delivering results," said Odero.

Nzoia battled hard to secure a 3-3 draw against visitors Sam West Black Boots at Sudi Stadium on Saturday. The club is arguably thrown into urgent rebuild after Odero's resignation and departure of several first team players in a span of a month.

Odero takes over the reins from Alfred Chole, who previously handled the team. His immediate goal is to strengthen the squad and guide them to a top finish in the NSL, which would secure them a coveted spot in the Premier League next season.

MOFA have been making strategic moves to enhance their performance, and Odero's appointment signals their intent to secure promotion.
