City Stars snap up defender Onyango

Former Kakamega Homeboyz defender Kennedy Ouma Onyango has signed for Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Nairobi City Stars on a two-year deal.

Onyango’s acquisition marks another big transfer statement by head coach Sanjin Alagic to strengthen his side ahead of their return to the country’s top flight league.

“We are pleased to announce we have secured the signature of Kennedy “Vidic” Onyango. Onyango has signed a two-year deal to join us ahead of the 2020/21 season,” City Stars said on their social media pages.

Onyango said he is aware of the stiff competition at the club but is ready to fight for regular playtime.

“I am excited to be here, commanding an automatic starting place won’t be an easy walk but I am ready to give my best for the club.

“I believe I made the right choice to join City Stars. It’s a team with big ambitions, quality players, great coaching, Staff and run in a very professional way. It’s the right place to take challenges,” Onyango said.

Club CEO Patrick Korir said Onyango will help the team realize its ambitions in the Country’s top league.

“He is an experienced player having featured for Posta Rangers, Nakumatt and Kakamega Homeboyz, he was key to Homeboyz last season where he featured in 20 out of 22 matches played.

“He is a solid stopper and certainly a good asset. He will add value to our team,” Korir told Citizen Digital.

Onyango becomes the club’s fifth signing after having secured the services of Edwin Buliba, Ugandan Yusuf Lubowa Mukisa, Wycliffe Otieno and Salim Shitu Abdalla.
