City Stars chief Korir predicts 'superb' season
Nairobi City Stars CEO Patrick Korir assessed his side will achieve
their best FKF Premier League campaign yet following a strong pre-season
display.
City Stars, who finished fifth in the league last season,
lost 2-0 to Kenya Police in the Elite Cup final on Saturday but left enough
evidence throughout the tournament to convince Korir.
“If you followed the Elite Cup closely then you can definitely
agree with me that the boys are in fine form and itching to get started.
"I'm happy the new recruits have gelled well with the
rest of the team and we are set, we want to perform even better than last
term,” Korir told Citizen Digital.
Some quality investment into their squad has turned City Stars
into one of the league's most competitive sides, with Korir now adamant they
have built a team that can challenge for top honours.
Meanwhile, the soft spoken administrator still insists his
team will only participate in a FIFA sanctioned league, signalling they will
steer clear of competitions organised by the FKF Transition Committee.
"As Nairobi City Stars, we will only play in a League
recognized by FIFA and that the winner will have the opportunity to play in the
CAF Confederation Cup and Champions League."
